Kids

The Children's Ministry of Avon United Methodist Church reaches God's littlest disciples. This ministry exists to reach children for the Lord, equip families to grow in Christ together and have fun doing it. We meet Sunday mornings during both services. Children participate in songs, videos, object lessons, classroom learning and other methods to keep them interested in learning. Periodically there are other children's events including an Easter Egg Hunt, Vacation Bible School, Fall Fun Night, and a Christmas Event.

NURSERY and CHILD CARE

For those of you with very small children, up to age 2, we have a staffed Nursery each Sunday morning. The Nursery provides babies and toddlers with a safe place to play and learn about Jesus's love while Mom and Dad attend church. Want to keep them with you? No problem. Kids of all ages are always welcome in our worship services, and our Nursery is open when you (and they) are ready.

KIDS' SUNDAY SCHOOL

Held Sunday mornings during worship services, Sunday School is a great place for kids to learn about God in a relevant and fun way. Little ones learn about God in simple ways with crafts and age-appropriate, preschool lessons. Older kids, in Kindergarten to fifth grade, are encouraged to join us for fun of their own. Each week kids receive lessons from both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, and they have fun learning them with friends.

Note: "Family Sundays" are typically the first Sunday of the month. Only Nursery and Preschool classes meet, older kids join Big Church.

CLUB 456

We are re-imagining our ministry  for kids in grades 4, 5 and 6 on Sunday mornings. We know they often feel "stuck in the middle," too old for little kids' classes and too young for Youth Group, and Club 456 offers a great place for them to keep learning and growing in their relationship with Jesus. If you have kids this age, bring them to our regular meetings on the First and Third Sundays of each month at 6pm!

JOYFUL NOISE

"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise" (Ps 98:4) with our Kids' Choir! All kids, K to 6th grade, are welcome to join us for rehearsals 2nd and 4th Sundays in the barn from 10-10:25am! We will sing for the congregation periodically throughout the year, during worship services. Come on, kids! Make a joyful nose with us! (Contact the office if you have any questions.)

EASTER EVENT

Easter is kind of a big deal around here, and we will have Easter fun for families every year! From our annual Easter Egg Hunt and Palm Sunday Procession to fun activities that help your family focus on what Easter means to us as followers of the risen Jesus.

SUMMER PROGRAMS

Vacation Bible School is one of our favorite programs for kids and volunteers in the summer! Set Sail with us in 2024, where kids will learn that God shows us how to love others, gives us gifts to serve others, prepares us to share the good news, and loves spending time with us! Registration typically goes live 4-6 weeks before VBS starts!

Fun  Friday Summer  Meet-Ups were a hit again in 2023! Keep watching for a repeat of this next Summer, and plan to  join us at Schwartz Park to hang out, play and chat with other parents who are doing their best to enjoy (and sometimes just survive) the summer!

Remember Summer Camp, too! Contact Us for information about summer camp, and ask about a partial scholarship for your kiddos going to camp!

TRUNK-OR-TREAT

Trunk or Treat is a fun time for everyone! Whether you Host a Trunk or simply bring the kids for some costumed candy collection, games, a simple dinner and more! You don't need to register to attend, but if you would like to host a trunk or volunteer for the event, watch for links to sign up!

Check out this video to see the smiles from our 2022 event, and start planning your trunk now for next October!

CHRISTMAS FAMILY EVENT

Each year, we encourage the Christmas spirit in our families with a special event aimed at our littlest angels. Good food, fun crafts and some "special guest appearances" promise something for all ages. Our 2022 theme was "A Piece of Christmas," and the event featured a couple of pretty jolly elves, a stable on a winter's night, snacks, crafts and carols. The date for our 2023 event is Saturday, Dec. 9th, so be watching for details!
