What is your role at the church and what does that mean you actually do? I am the Organist and Choir Director. I play the organ for all services and direct the choir. We sing in church twice a month and on special occasions. I also accompany the choir on the piano. The choir rehearses after church on a Sunday.
Tell me about your family… My husband, Bill and I have two children, Rachel 11 and Paul 9. We also have five furry children. Simone, Lucy, Tex, Tucker and Gilbert. We love cats! We also have lots of fish and 4 frogs: Sammy, Soupy, Mo and Freddy.
What are your hobbies/recreational interests? Gardening, biking, traveling, making music, spending time together as a family.
What is your favorite quote? Psalm 121: 1,2 -- I lift mine eyes to the mountains - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.
What was your first job? I was a percussionist/timpanist/alternate keyboard player in the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Cape Town, South Africa.
What is your proudest moment? When I invited Jesus into my heart, many years ago.
What was your childhood ambition? To become a musician.
What inspires you? The excellence of Jesus Christ inspires me to always be in pursuit of excellence in everything I do. We are not excellent, but we serve a God who is.
What has God been teaching you lately? To wait only upon God, and let my expectation be from Him.
What is your guilty pleasure? Dark Chocolate.
What is your favorite part of your job? To serve my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
What do you love about Avon UMC? The warmth and friendliness within the church community.
