The Children's Ministry of Avon United Methodist Church reaches God's littlest disciples. The ministry exists to reach children for the Lord, equip families to grow in Christ together and have fun doing it. We meet Sunday mornings during both services. Children participate in songs, videos, object lessons, classroom learning and other methods to keep them interested in learning. Periodically there are other children's events including an Easter Egg Hunt, Vacation Bible School, Fall Fun Night, and a Christmas Event.
Can't come in person? Join us online on Sunday mornings! Links posted weekly to the Avon UMC KidMin Facebook Page, request membership by contacting Amanda through that page!
Since reopening for worship, kids' Sunday School classes will be conducted in person and via Zoom Meeting links. If your child would like to participate, contact our Children's Director (Amanda) for details and links to the online meetings.
Held each Sunday morning during indoor worship services, Kid's Church is a place for kids to learn about God in a relevant and fun way. Little ones learn about God in simple ways with crafts and age-appropriate, preschool lessons. Older kids, in Kindergarten to fifth grade, are encouraged to join us for fun of their own. Using a brand-new curriculum, the kids learn from “agricultural time-travelers” known as the Truth Trackers how the Old Testament and the New work together to teach us life-changing truths. They won’t want to miss a week as there is a new incentive program that encourages learning through “heartwork”, not “homework”.
Easter is kind of a big deal around here each year, and we will have Easter fun for families every time! Be watching this space each spring to see how we will celebrate with our annual Easter Egg Hunt and fun lessons on what Easter means to us as followers of the risen Jesus.
Vacation Bible School and Family Faith Nights are some of programs we have led for kids and families in the summer! Want to see what it's all about? Click this link (Family Faith Nights Video) for a quick video of our 2021 program, "I Wonder...," a VBS-style event which encouraged the whole family to experience fun and learning together! Families moved through songs and activities, with parents and older kids helping the younger members of the family, and we laughed, learned, sang and played together for three awesome evenings!
Sunday Afternoon in October, 3-5:30pm
Trunk or Treat is a fun time for everyone! Whether you Host a Trunk or just bring by the kids for some costumed candy collection, seeing the fancy trunks will put a smile on your fall face for sure! Be watching this space for more information!
Each year, we encourage the Christmas spirit in our families with a special event aimed at our littlest angels. Good food, fun crafts and a visit from the Jolly ol’ Elf and the Mrs. promise something for all ages. Our 2019 event was an evening aboard the Polar Express! Keep your eyes on this space for details about our 2021 event this winter...
VBS is traditionally one of the biggest summer church events for children. Held mid-summer in the evenings, our VBS program will not disappoint. We have fun and learn about God in developmentally appropriate terms for kids from aged three (potty trained) through fifth grade. VBS volunteers, kids and parents look forward to this week all year long! Registration typically goes live about one month before the kick-off.
Parents' Night Out
Hey, Mom and Dad! Are you looking for an evening off (from the kids, at least!)? Watch this space for selected Saturdays to drop the kids off at church from 5 - 8pm, where they will enjoy pizza, games and plenty of fun, and you're on your way! Suggested donation: $10/kid.
Stuck for something to do, now that you don't have kids in tow on a Saturday night? We will strive to provide an evening of entertainment with friends from church (5:30-7:30pm) for a minimal cost!
