Purpose of this Position
The Contemporary Worship Leader is tasked with leading musical worship for our 9:00 am worship service to draw people into authentic worship of God.
On average, 12-15 hours per week.
Up to two weeks of vacation per year, including up to two Sundays.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Lead and plan for worship weekly and for special services.
Lead setup and tear down of musical equipment on Sunday morning and at rehearsal.
Recruit and coordinate a worship team of musicians to lead our congregation in worship.
Create and lead the discipleship and connection of the worship team.
Ensure the sound system is in working condition and coordinate details of making it run smoothly for all worship services.
Train and coordinate multi-media and sound people for all worship services.
Meet with the pastor and other leaders to develop the themes and patterns for worship.
Attendance at staff meetings and worship committee meetings.
Create and maintain healthy relationships with congregation of Avon UMC.
Remain consistent with the theology of the United Methodist Church.All other duties pertaining to the worship leader position as assigned by Pastor.

An ability to play and lead with a musical instrument.
Commitment to the mission and vision of Avon UMC.
Positive attitude and able to build relationships with a multi-generational congregation.
A Christ like spirit of acceptance, warmth and conviction. This includes the need for a consistent devotional life. Familiarity with and appreciation for the United Methodist history and theology.
Direct oversight will be from the pastor.
Employment of the worship leader is the responsibility of the Leadership Team.
